Unicon WF boiler plants for production of hot water

Unicon WF boiler plants are equipped with fire tube boilers which are usually oil or natural gas fired. The plants can be assembled on site or they can be manufactured as module type, transferable plants. The plants come in a capacity range of 5-300 MW. In combination plants water and steam boilers are placed in the same building.

Unicon WF boiler plants are used for peak loads in district heating, heating of district heat networks and housing as well as processes where hot water is needed.

 Boiler The core of Unicon WF plant is a three-pass fire tube boiler. The fuel burns in the furnace flue and there is a cooled reversing chamber at the end of the flue from where the flue gas is sent back to the front part of the boiler. From the front part the flue gas is directed through the fire tubes to the flue gas duct or economiser at the back end of the boiler.

The basis for our boiler design is that the heat load of the furnace and the velocity of flue gas in the convection part are low. This way combustion in the furnace is complete and e.g. NOx emissions are reduced. Also the boiler’s pressure loss is low. Due to its structure, the boiler doesn’t get dirty easily and the heat transfer surfaces can be cleaned during maintenance.

Unicon WT boiler plants are on-site assembled plants equipped with water tube boilers. The main fuels are light or heavy fuel oil or natural gas. The plants are also manufactured as parallel boiler plants with several boilers connected together in a capacity range of 20-500 MW. Unicon WT boiler plants are used e.g. for peak loads in district heating, for heating of district heat networks and housing and in industrial processes where hot water is needed.

Boiler

Unicon WT plant is a combined water tube and fire tube boiler where the furnace and the reversing chamber have a gas tight water tube membrane wall structure and the convection part is fire tube structured.

The burner is mounted on the roof of the furnace and the flame is directed from the roof towards the bottom of the boiler. Flue gas passes through the opening in the back wall of the furnace to the convection part where the convection tubes are located. The convection tubes are not the finned type which helps keep the boiler clean for a longer time and also makes cleaning it easier. The gap between the furnace and the convection part is cooled down by water all the way through.

Therefore, combustion in the furnace is complete and e.g. NOx emissions are reduced. Also the pressure loss of the boiler is low. Thanks to its structure, the boiler doesn’t get very dirty and it can be cleaned with the cleaning system installed for that purpose.

Unicon SF steam boiler plants for process and food industries

Unicon SF boiler plants are equipped with fire tube boilers which are usually oil or natural gas fired. The plants are manufactured both as module type transferrable and on-site assembled boiler plants in a capacity range of 7-300 t/h.

Unicon SF boiler plants are used in process and food industries where steam is needed.

From the front part of the boiler the flue gas is directed through the fire tubes into the flue gas duct attached to the back end of the boiler.

The basis for the design is that the heat load of the furnace and the velocity of flue gas in the convection part are low. Therefore, combustion in the furnace is complete and e.g. NOx emissions are reduced. Also the pressure loss of the boiler is low. Due to the high steam volume, steam production is reliable in spite of load changes and the boilers can reach 99 % steam dryness.

A superheater can be intergrated to the boiler’s front part. With the superheater the steam can reach temperatures up to 300ºC.

 

Unicon ST

Unicon ST steam boiler plants for industrial and power generating processes

Unicon ST boiler plants are on-site assembled boiler plants equipped with water tube boilers. The main fuels are light or heavy fuel oil or natural gas.

The plants are also manufactured as parallel boiler plants with several boilers connected together in a capacity range of 30-600 t/h. In combination plants both water and steam boilers are placed in the same building. Unicon ST boiler plants are used in e.g. process and power generating industries for steam production.

Boiler Unicon ST boiler is a natural circulation boiler. These boilers have a sturdy and simple structure which suits best for demanding power plants and industrial requirements. The boilers are designed and manufactured to be reliable and they need little maintenance. The pressure body is a durable framework.  Downcomers, headers and tube walls are welded together forming a gas tight construction.

The burner is installed on the roof of the furnace and the flame is directed from the roof towards the bottom of the boiler. Flue gas flows through the screen between the furnace and the second pass to the convection part where the convection tubes are located.

The basis for the design is that the heat load of the furnace and the velocity of flue gas in the convection part are low. Therefore, combustion in the furnace is complete and e.g. NOx emissions are reduced. Also the pressure loss of the boiler is low. Thanks to its structure the boiler doesn’t get very dirty and it can be cleaned with the cleaning system installed for that purpose.

Unicon MST

Unicon MST steam boiler plants for industrial use and power plants

Unicon MST boiler plants are manufactured as transferrable modules and equipped with horizontal water tube boilers. The modules are designed so that they are easy to transport and quick to assemble. The main fuels are light or heavy fuel oil or natural gas. The plants are manufactured as parallel boiler plants with several boilers connected together in capacity range of 20-300 t/h. In combination plants both water and steam boilers are placed together in the same building. Unicon MST boiler plants are used for steam production for example in oil fields.

Boiler The heart of a Unicon MST plant is a horizontal natural circulation boiler. These boilers are designed and manufactured to be reliable and low maintenance. The pressure body is a durable framework, and downcomers, chambers and tube walls are welded together forming a gas tight construction.

The burner is installed in the front part of the boiler and the flame is directed horizontally towards the back of the boiler. Flue gas flows from the furnace to the super heater and further to the convection part and economizer, which are all placed horizontally in a row.

The basis for the design is that the heat load of the furnace and the velocity of flue gas in the convection part are low. This way combustion in the furnace is complete, and e.g. NOx emissions are minimized. Also the pressure loss of the boiler is low. Thanks to the boiler structure, the boiler stays relatively clean.

Specialty gas boiler

KPA Unicon has delivered gas boiler plants for already 25 years, mainly to Finland and Russia. The main fuel has been natural gas, but our solutions are also capable to utilize more specific gaseous fuels.

Industrial gases form a group of gases which are specifically manufactured for use in a wide range of industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, mining, steel manufacturing, metal, environmental protection, medicine, pharmaceutical, bio technology, food, water, fertilizer, nuclear power, electronics and aerospace.

Gaseous fuels are by-products from these industries and are suitable for our boiler plants to produce heat or/and process steam. We have, for instance, experience of burning coke oven gases and blast-furnace gas from steel industry to produce energy.

Coke oven gas is a by-product from the coke production and it consists of hydrogen and light hydrocarbons-containing gas.  Gas is used as an energy source at coking plants and elsewhere in the iron and steel industries. Blast furnace gas is gas from the blast furnace process, which is used after refining as a fuel for heating and energy production.

Our boiler plants are also suitable for odorous gases. Odorous gases are by-products mainly from the pulp and paper industry, but also from industrial sector, where various kinds of biomasses are utilized. Odorous gases come from industrial processes and are reduced on sulfur compounds, which are formed in small amounts in pulping processes, they cause the typical smell of a pulp mill.

Odorous gases are collected as accurately as possible and disposed of by incineration. Our solutions produce heat or/and steam from odorous gases sustainably, environmentally friendly without odor disadvantages and emissions. This is real cleantech!

KPA Unicon has delivered to Temirtau in Kazakhstan a coke oven gas and blast furnace a gas-fired Unicon SF150 (3 x 50 t/h, 14 bar, 230 °C) steam boiler plant.  At ArcelorMittal factory`s site, there is a coke plant and chemical plant, blast furnace, sinter plant, steel production and rolling mill and the new boiler plant uses by-products from these processes as fuels.

ArcelorMittal is the world’s leading steel and mining company. The energy produced is used for industrial processes and the boiler plant is also burning odorous gases.
